In that case, his sin would have been paid for at Calvary. Nevertheless, he should still be subjected to temporal punishment. The repentant thief on the cross knew he was getting what he deserved, ("And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds"). Thanks to my Calvinism, I'm not worried that Hasan may be executed before he gets the "chance" to repent... But we will be amazed at some of the people who "make it" to haven, (and even more amazed at those who don't...) As the father of a young soldier getting ready to deploy I am deeply troubled that someone that was so obviously unstable was not dealt with properly and that we lost 13 hero's because of that. (Yes, I consider everyone of our troops to be hero's) As a Christian I know what my responsibility is in regards to forgiveness but if one of those 13 were my child I would be having a real hard time with that right now. I have learned over the years that I have to forgive in my heart anyone who has done me wrong whether they ask for it or not and the sooner the better. If I do not forgive them in my own heart, without being asked, it will turn into sin and that affects my relationship with my Savior.
