In the nicest way possible I can think of: No, faith alone does not get you to heaven. Jesus clearly gives us instructions to keep His commandments over and over again in the bible. Even the last chapter in the bible there are instructions for us to keep His commandments. (Revelation 22:14)
We also all know the bible clearly states that NO ONE can come to Jesus unless the Father calls him. (John 6:44) and He restates it in (John 6:65) Not everyone is called in this lifetime (Matthew 20:16 and 22:14)
God wants all His children in the Kingdom and He will open our minds to the truth when we are ready. When you die, you simply go to sleep, read John 11:11-14. There is no going to hellfire to be tormented for your decisions made in this lifetime and please dont say oh ya, read Luke 16, it’s clearly a parable. Do some historic research on the customs of the time and they thought there was a space that separated heaven and hell and you could see each place from the other place. When God ressurects you on the Last Great Day thats when you will have a chance to follow God or if you dont want to follow Him and His way of life you will be thrown into the lake of fire and CONSUMED, burned up, cease to exist (Revelation 2:11, 20:6, 21:8) No where in the bible does God ever tell us that eternal life is a curse but it is a gift from God. (Romans 6:23) Please I implore you, read the scriptures and pray that the Father will call you into the truth and open your mind to it. But dont do this lightly, following God is a HARD thing to do.

One hymn put it nicely, ”Christ, and Christ alone, this is all my plea, Jesus died for all mankind and Jesus died for me.”
Ephesians 2 tells us it is by grace through faith and not by works. We don’t earn any of our salvation by what we do. The price was ”paid in full’ when Jesus shed His blood on the cross. However, if we say we have faith and don’t have the corresponding work in our lives to show that, then maybe that person has only a ”profession” and not possession.
NIGEL,My understanding that faith come by hearing the word,not by the preacher,the bible,etc but only by the voice of GOD, Every word that proceeds out of His mouth,He speaks to the heart of man.Gods said if you love me you will keep my commanments love your neighbor,but unless He put that love in you its impossible.No one can come to God unless He draw him,I believe that God come to every man before he leave this world.The thing is do we hear Him,or we to busy with our way of life.Every human being is born with the spirt of GOD,[consience]excuse my spelling.thats the connection.How one must be save God said my sheep hear my voice and they follow me and that He know them.Its all about realtionship,not base on man knowledge reading the bible qouting scriptures,How well do He know us.You must have fellowship with Christ inHis sufferings[1 pet;4:12-13] You reign with HIim you must suffer with Him[2-tim-2:12]if you live whith Him,you must die with Him [2-tim-2-11]and if you die you must be buried with Him,[rom-6;4]and being buried with Him in the true baptism you also rise with Him[col-2:12] In all of that you have over come the world,DEATH AND SIN.As GOD saids were is thy STING.
