Terry shouldn't of died...i think the husband did it and when he learned that she was coming around he wanted to kill her because he was afraid that she would tell what really happend to her and he would get in trouble. The parents were taking care of Terry till the husband learned she was coming around and lept into action. He got out of his sin this time.

C.M.O.-Comfort Measures Only, Maz.
They do this a lot in our nations Nursing Homes.
What this means is that they simply try to make the patent as comfortable as possible until they finally die. They cannot withhold medicine if the patent needs it, say for example if the patent is a diabetic and needs insulin or is an epileptic needs medication to prevent seizures. Some people continue to live for years.

John: They use that method because it is not a deliberate putting someone to death (by injection or otherwise) it is more a witholding..........they call it something else but I can't think of the word.

Letting God decide when we die is more to do with having faith in God, we have to trust Him, I'v learnt that very much lately, whatever happens, we have to trust Him because there is no one else who knows us like He does. When you havn't got God in your life your left to 'fate', just a bit too uncertain for my liking (and that is not why I believe in God. He is real to me.........because He IS real!).

Hmmmm, as usual Ferox said just about everything I would have said.
Yes, a lethal injection of some strong sedative would have been better, more humane[Heck a hollow point bullet even]than starvation and dehydration. I don't know why the medical profession uses this method.
"And death should still be in the hands of God"
And lucky for those who have the luxury of letting God take care of these kinds of problems for them. The rest of us have to either do the best we can as circumstances allow, or get someone else to do the dirty deed for us.
Unless of course you believe that God is "working through" the hands of the murderer, or that the murderer is following a command of God. Who's to say for sure, eh[smile]? Only God and the murderer would know.

F.L.A: ''Your remark about God being the only one with the right to take a life is contrary to what you have posted in the past about people having the right to destroy the culture and lives of other people who have/had been judged as being “evil”....''

No it was not contrary, the times in the Bible where the Israelites killed their enemies was commanded by God Himself. His 6th commandment stated ''Thou shalt not kill.'' They had to keep it like every other commandment, ofcourse that wasn't always the case and I would not condone murder.

And as far as Terry Schiavo is concerned, I believe the family were in disagreement with the husband about it.

I can honestly say I don't know what I would do faced with that senario, but starving and dehydrating someone to death is not acceptable. And death should still be in the hands of God.

I was in no way condoning the way in which the woman was allowed to die, Maz. Obviously there are more humane methods available for bringing sudden death. Death-Row inmates and stray dogs have been more humanely murdered, but is this the issue here? No, only a part of it.
Your remark about God being the only one with the right to take a life is contrary to what you have posted in the past about people having the right to destroy the culture and lives of other people who have/had been judged as being "evil" according to the theological beliefs of others, the Judaic warring tribes of the Old Testament. Remember the posts on the "Understanding the World of Wicca and More" listed under Apologetics to which I refer?
Perhaps you have never been there, or perhaps you have,....but there comes a time in some peoples lives when hard decisions must be made, sometimes quickly, to destroy the lives of others.
If and when this time comes, if one does not face the consequences of ones actions through the actions and judgments of society, then they must face the judgment of Deities, eventually.
Everyone involved with the death of Terry Schiavo, especially her husband, did not "get off easy", and no doubt the widower still gets dirty looks when he is among the common public.

And not only that, she was refused from taking communion..........meaning she would have bread and wine, but they wouldn't allow any food or fluid passed her lips. This I thot was atrocious treatment.

F.L.A: I know all that, I still hate the way they starve and dehydrate these people, literally starving them to death, which takes days.....weeks. There is no other way to say it, they are killed by this method. Only God has the right to take life, He gives it, He should take it, but then you don't believe that so you won't accept that.

Al, welcome!
Maz, you and Al do not seem to realize that there was a lot more wrong with that woman than something as "mild" as being in a coma or being severely handicapped. You seem to have an oversimplified understanding of her condition. Stephen William Hawkings is severely handicapped, and he was much better off than Terry Schiavo. Look her up on Wikipedia if you wish.

You will not like John's answer when it comes.
